In recent years there has been a growth in some excellent digital resources for Catholics. I’ve put together this page listing a few resources I’ve come across over the years with links to where you can access them and what they are good for.
Overall they have been a great aid to help deepen my faith and spiritual life, especially when needing to quickly find the Mass readings when in a church with poor acoustics and you just can’t figure out what the Psalm is that is being sung! However, they also need some care so as not to distract too and are no replacement for looking up, engaging all your senses and fully participating that is the celebration in front of you!
Mobile Phone and Tablet Apps
The “Laudate – #1 Catholic App” is another free app with links to daily Mass readings, reflections and podcasts. Contains text for common prayers, links to church documents and the catechism and also an interactive Rosary. Available on Android and Apple devices. Cost: FREE.
Whether you are commuting, out exercising or simply at home washing the dishes there are a range of podcasts (downloadable audio files that you can subscribe to) that are now available. Here’s some of my favourites:
Pray as you Go – is a daily prayer session, designed to go with you wherever you go, to help you pray whenever you find time, but particularly whilst travelling to and from work, study, etc.
Trideo Media – Based in the Netherlands, Trideo produces programs for television, radio and internet at the intersection of faith and modern culture for an international audience.
SQPN – Star Quest Production Network is a Catholic non-profit media organization producing a wide range of shows
Scott Hahn’s Sunday Bible Reflections – short, yet powerful reflections on the Sunday’s readings from a renowned biblical scholar and apologist
The Road to Emmaus Podcast – a weekly, deeper series of talks given by Scott Hahn and others exploring the bible, liturgy and faith
